Rocket Powered VW Beetle

How often do you see 1350 horse power in a car that is street legal? That would be a lot of fun on the freeway during rush hour  traffic!!! I would probably get arrested!!!

I gotta say that home built rocket powered cars don’t look very cool at all.

VW jet engine car

The funniest thing about this car to me is that its bone stock minus this gigantic jet engine in the back!!! I’m sure the stock ride height and wheels help with stability and whatnot but come on… at least get the rims painted black or something!

Check out that filter! I wonder how loud that thing is on the inside of the car? Sure looks like it would be a blast to drive though!

Apocalyptic and Post Apocalyptic Vehicles #1

ford f650 Flat Black china

The Ford F-650 seems like it would be a good candidate for an end of the world scenario when it come to needing power and cargo room this would be a good choice. a downfall of this rig would be the amount of gas it burns. The F-650 would be able to ram through miles of abandoned cars but in the event of a gas shortage it would run out of fuel laving you stranded and wishing for a more eco friendly utility vehicle.

The FX-4 From FX Bikes is the worlds lightest adult sized dirt bike/ motorcycle. It has a 125cc engine and only wights 125lbs this is definitely being added to my survival list! That thing is so light I could lift it over a fence myself! It seems like you could take this thing though any kind of terrain and it also looks like it would be really fun!

off road beetle

Believe it or not the VW Beetle makes the list! These tried and true rigs are very easy to work on with their simple air-cooled engine and are also very reliable. I say the most important thing about an end of the world vehicle is the ability to find parts and VW produced around 21.5 Million of them and has the 4th highest production numbers of all time.

If I had to choose one of the three I think I would pick the bug!!! and it looks really sick!!!!

Outrageous Motor Trends

donk 2

Okay, rides like this are called Donks. They usually have really big wheels, are lifted and are generally late 70’s to early 90’s cars.

big rim car donk

Donks can generally be found in more urban areas. I gotta give props to the work and dedication it takes to create a ride like this!

Bosozoku car

We probably won’t see cars like this in the U.S. for a bit but the style of these cars are called Bosozoku. They generally have crazy body mods and huge exhaust pipes.

Cars like this are more popular in Japan right now but I’m sure that we will see more of these type of cars in other parts of the world soon enough.

Craigslist Find #3 1931 Model A

Model a 1931 craigslist

Found this 1931 Ford Model A on craigslist today by accident! I love how it hasn’t been molested, and just by looking at it, you know that it was being used as a truck until the moment it was parked.

craigslist find model A

If I was in the market for a Model A right now, I would scoop this up real quick!!! By the looks of it, every part is still there! It would be fun to get it running and drive it around just like this for awhile!!! The looks you would get would be so funny!!!

Model A Craigslist find

The guy selling it is only asking $1000!!! I would have way too much fun in this thing!!!!

Worlds First 3D Printed Car Urbee

urbee 3d printed car

Urbee is the world’s first 3D printed car. It looks pretty cool if you ask me. In 2015, the makers of Urbee plan on driving from New York to San-Francisco while only using 10 Gallons of gas!!! That’s around 290 miles per gallon! They plan on traveling at a rate of 70 miles per hour when not faced with traffic jams.

3d printed urbee

Just to clarify, only the body panels are 3D printed. The rest of the car is made of normal materials found in cars on the road today.

urbee frame

Looks kinda like an oversized Go-Cart! I wonder if it’s as fun to drive as it looks?

Okay, I really don’t know of anyone who would actually want to ride in this thing!!! It’s way too low to the ground! You wouldn’t even be able to see this in your rear view mirror. I hope the makers of the Urbee succeed in their goal of traveling the United States on just 10 gallons…I just hope they don’t get crushed by someone in a Hummer along the way! To those driving the Urbee across the U.S….Good Luck!!! And to those of us driving along side of them – be on the look out for this tiny gas sipping Go-Cart…

Worlds Oldest Running Car

Worlds oldest car

This is the oldest four wheel car in the world (if you consider it a car) that still runs!!! It’s steam powered and had a top speed of 38mph which seems way too fast for a car that was built in 1884. Its actual name is De Dion-Bouton et Trepardoux Dos-a-Dos Steam Runabout; way too long if you ask me. It seats four people sitting back to back and sitting underneath them is the water tank. It recently sold at auction for 4.6 million and throughout its life has only had four owners!

Steam exhaust…

worlds oldest car steam lines

It’s crazy that all these parts still work! They sure don’t make them like they used to…

oldest car running

I would have killed to be here during this test run!

De Dion is the creator of the car but his own family didn’t support his experiments. They thought that he was wasting his time and actually filed injunctions on him. Despite his family’s lack of support, he succeeded in his creation and out of all the automobiles that came before and after; his is the one that is still on the road.

Volkswagon XL1 261 MPG

Volkswagen XL1 doors open

The XL1 is a hybrid. and it only weighs close to 1900 lbs. Just for comparison, the average American car weighs in at close to 4000 lbs. .

Volkswagen XL1 on the road

It has a very low coefficient of drag which helps increase mpgs. It looks really small next to that SUV in the backgrond…

Volkswagen XL1front

VW did a good job making this little car look mean!

Looks like a mini lambo!!! Love the red!!!

I have doubts that volkswagen will actually sell these vehicles to anyone and instead they will most likely lease them… lets hope not but don’t forget what happened to the EV1… O_o
